Police waste money on beermats

By James Daley on  From beerbrewer.blogspot.com
Following on from Gwent Police printing beermats earlier in the year, it turns out the neighbouring South Wales Police Force have managed to find some money for a print run as well. A veritable cornucopia of taxpayer-funded bodies have used our money to produce this advertising gimmick, still with breweries cutting back on point of sale material such as beermats it appears that only the bloated public sector can afford to produce such advertising material. It is good that the flow of cash...Read Full Story

Beermat distributor to cut 350 jobs

By James Daley on  From beerbrewer.blogspot.com
Beermat distributor Gwent Police have announced that they will be cutting 350 jobs in an effort to save £3 million off their budget. Landlords throughout Newport, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and Caerfilthy Unitary Authorities are outraged that they will no longer be able to have bilingual beermats delivered to them by police officers. One Newport publican, who wished to remain anonymous said, "This really is the thin end of the wedge. Breweries cannot afford to print beermats any longer so we rely...Read Full Story

Beermat supplier Zyan buy beermat domains

By SlackAlice on  From beermats.wordpress.com
The latest beer mat news is that Solent Media Limited trading as Zyan Design & Print has just purchased two .com beermat domains to “facilitate expansion”, at a cost of $10,000. The intention is laudable, but purists may claim that their money would have been better spent on purchasing a print press, rather than a domain or two. There is nothing wrong with selling beermats, many print brokers, dealers, agencies, promotional houses, print suppliers and advertising houses do, but there is no...Read Full Story

Are they a genuine beermat manufacturer?

By SlackAlice on  From beer-mats.eu
Well the definition of a ‘manufacturer’ is as follows: “a person or company in the business of manufacturing; esp., a factory owner”. Therefore a purist would argue that unless the beermat company in question was in the business of manufacturing and had their own plant, that they could not possible be described as a manufacturer.   Given the definition is so clear, why you may ask, would a beermat company attempt to claim that they were a beermat manufacturer? Is it because it makes them...Read Full Story

When is a beermat manufacturer not a beermat manufacturer?

Genuine beermats or fake beermats, is there a difference?

By SlackAlice on  From beer-mats.eu
Firstly it is important to point out that the producers of fake beermats would argue that they are not fake, because they look and feel like a beermat. But of course that is where the similarities end, beermats that have been constructed and glued together simply do not have the inherent properties required of a genuine beermat which is made from pulp-wood.   Therefore, it is probably only fair that the facts are laid bare, in order that the consumers can make their own decision. Because not...Read Full Story

Design a beermat competition

By SlackAlice on  From beermats.wordpress.com
When in comes to widening the impact of a beermat message and maximising the return on their investment, the local county council of Neath Port Talbot undoubtedly lead the way. This forward thinking local authority decided that they would launch an anti-drink drive campaign during the summer months. This in itself is noteworthy; however, rather than simply pass the job to their advertising agency, they encouraged pupils from local schools to participate in the design of the beermats. Now that...Read Full Story

How to design a beermat

By SlackAlice on  From beermats.wordpress.com
Because different manufacturers may have variations, it is always worth checking first, but as a general guide the following would apply to designing a beermat. Most beermats are printed square with rounded corners or less commonly, are round. Beermats are normally 94mm square or 94mm diameter. However, the beermats have to be printed and cut, therefore it is not acceptable to simply provide artwork which is 94mm. The following guidelines relate to a ’square’ beermats with rounded corners...Read Full Story

By SlackAlice on  From beermats.wordpress.com
No doubt about it, if you want to get your message across to a wide audience, then the humble beermat is about as good as it gets! With new manufacturing processes, it is now possible to print much smaller volumes of beermats and at a price that makes it a truly mass market advertising, promotions and marketing tool. More and more companies are now turning to beermats to get their message across, including the UK Police force, cancer research companies, local authorities with environmental...Read Full Story
