Ben Steele -- POW displays depictions of sufferings in prison
Ben Steele discusses his paintings (KILR8)Ben Steele, a POW during WWII and the only living Montana survivor of the Bataan Death March by the Japanese is using the extreme experiences he suffered as inspiration for art.His paintings, which feature depictions of wartime prisoners, have been featured in exhibits around the US.KILR8 reported:
Thursday night he discussed the paintings now on display with a crowd of about 200. His work has been featured in galleries around the country. But this is the first time in 20 years he's had an exhibit at the Western Heritage Center. Still, Steele says his success as an artist isn't his biggest accomplishment.
"Teaching students that have become successful and write me letters. That's more than money," said Steele.
Steele's work will be on display at the Western Heritage Center through September 17th.
