Ben Stiller Doesn't Like Drugs

He may have looked artfully strung-out at this year's Academy Awards, but Ben Stiller is no junkie.

In an interview with Britain's Daily Mail, the comedian admits that he's experimented with drugs, but they're not his thing. He told the Mail he was once so freaked out during an LSD trip, he felt compelled to call his parents for support:
I dabbled in drugs - just dabbled. I did LSD once, only once. It was per pressure, a high-school thing. But it was scary and I didn't like feeling out of control.

It was a very bad trip - I freaked out and called my parents [actors Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara], who were in California doing an episode of The Love Boat, and I tried to explain to my dad what I was feeling, but all he said was, "I understand what you're going through. When I was a teenager I smoked a Pall Mall cigarette and I got sick for two days." I'm like, "Dad, no, this is worse. You don't understand." But they had never had any experience of the drug culture, because they were working so hard all through the sixties.
Zoolander fans probably wonder if the bad trip had anything to do with Maori tribesmen.

Stiller also admitted that he used to go to legendary hotspot Studio 54 when he was in his early teens. He and his sister were friends with the bouncer, but he says he stayed away from most of the insanity, preferring to sit and watch people dance.
