Yoga Techniques for Increasing Concentration

If you are struggling to concentrate, certain yoga techniques can help you in increasing your power of concentrating. Yoga has several branches, out of which some of the most significant ones are yoga for self control, yoga for devotion and yoga for mind. These three branches of yoga are most essential for increasing our power of concentrating. Below, we have discussed some yoga techniques that help in increasing concentration:

Gyan Mudra: According to the theories of Yoga, Mudras are used for cultivating s particular state of mind. Yoga includes use of numerous hand gestures, which are referred to as ‘Hasta mudra’ in Sanskrit.

These gestures can be included in our daily yoga practice; the madras can be used while meditating, while performing breathing exercises as well as while performing yoga poses. An individual finding it hard to concentrate is suggested to practice Gyan Mudra. To form the Gyan Mudra, you will need to place the tips of index finger and thumb together keeping the remaining 3 fingers upright. This Mudra is known to promote mental peace and increase concentration. Practice the Gyan Mudra while in meditative poses like an easy pose of lotus pose.

Balance the 6th Chakra:
There are seven chakras or energy centers in our body. The third eye or 6th Chakra is located in between our eyes, exactly above the eyebrows. According to yoga experts, over-stimulation or over-energizing of this chakra might impair one’s ability of concentrating. Performing yoga poses that needs putting gentle pressure on our forehead for instance the supported forward bend or the child’s pose help in balancing the 6th chakra.

Yoga poses: The yoga poses that are particularly effective in boosting our ability of concentrating are the lotus pose and the half-shoulderstand pose. These poses relax our mind and thus increase concentrating power. Balancing yoga poses like tree pose and dancer’s pose also have similar effects.
