Benicio Del Toro No Longer Considered for Star Trek 2, Khan Still Could Appear

At first none of us could really wrap our heads around the fact that Benicio Del Toro could appear in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek 2. It was even harder to wrap that he could play as Khan. Alas maybe we were hoping for too much. It would seem the news everyone was hoping to hear will never come as Del Toro will not be a part of the new Star Trek sequel. According to a report at Vulture, reports have broken down between Del Toro and the Studio, and the two couldn’t come to a financial agreement. It always comes down to money. However the report does mention that Khan is still likely to appear as the primary villain of the movie.

While Benico Del Toro is no longer being considered, Khan is still very likely a possibility. We can’t be entirely sure, but this villain game is the exact same game that Zack Synder played for Man of Steel, when he denied the General Zod rumors. So Abrams is now back to looking through casting sheets, trying to find the right person to supposedly play as Khan. We know that Peter Weller joined the cast, most likely as the older supporting villain role that was called for when Alice Eve. There is still a lot we don’t know about who will play the lead villain role and who will be the villain, but for now, we just wait, and continue to write casting rumors.
