The Vikings announced they’ve signed cornerback Benny Sapp.
Sapp was with the Dolphins earlier this year but was released after the team gave up 622 total yards to the Patriots in which Sapp gave up a 99 yard TD to Wes Welker. Sapp played with the Vikings from 2008-2009 before he was traded to the Dolphins for Greg Camarillo.
It’s no suprise that the Vikings are looking for cornerback help after losing Antoine Winfield for the year during Monday nights game against the Packers. Vikings are already down a CB with Chris Cook being out and Cedric Griffin is struggling to cover anyone on the field since coming back from injury. Asher Allen, Marcus Sherels, and Rookie Brandon Burton are the only other corners on the team. Sapp is already familiar with the Vikings defense and at week 11, there’s not many to choose from in the free agent pool.
