(Getty Images)more pics »It's been 17 years since Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins met in the ring, and they face off again tonight at 6pm PST for a re-match in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. Their fight almost 2 decades ago resulted in a 12-round win for Jones, giving him his first world title, according to TheBoxingBulletin.com. Now, belts don't really matter at all, but pride is on the line.
Roy Jones Jr. (Getty)These guys are way past their prime, Jones is 41 and Hopkins is 45. But, in their heyday, they were both greats. Hopkins has a record 20 belts, while Jones in his day defeated James Toney, had a huge win over Reggie Johnson, and many other great athletes.
Jones is considered the underdog in this fight with 4-1 odds, however, and there's a little worry that someone will get seriously hurt in the match. Still, it should prove to be an exciting fight. A few thousand people showed up to the weigh-in yesterday, and they're expecting a packed house when the gloves go on tonight.
