The guy next door was a great guy.
Until he killed a member of his family.

Everybody loved investor Bernie Madoff.
Until they found out he swindled them.

Whitney Houston was a great singer.
She chose a life of drug addiction.

I hold someone like the departed Ms. Houston in the same regard I would hold a cold-blooded killer. Or Bernie Madoff. I don't see anybody praising and glorifying Charles Manson. Or Bernie Madoff. Why am I seeing everyone boo-hoo-hooing over Whitney Houston? Why are we not crying over poor Charlie Manson? Or trying to search our hearts to discover what made Bernie Madoff steal the money?

Something is wrong when we put a crack head on a pedestal.
