Chief:  Did you root for Kate Winslet at the Oscars?  Except for Meryl Streep, who were the other nominees?  Joking.  Of course I know.  But the point is, did anyone even have a chance?  Come on.  If it wasn't Winslet, it was going to be Streep.  No doubt about it. The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced that THE READER, starring Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes has crossed over $100 million in worldwide box office receipts since its initial domestic release on December 10, 2008. The film has been an international success for TWC and its foreign distribution partners, having been released in 46 countries and 32 languages to date. Life is full of coincidences. Wednesday night as I was coming home on the Metro from leading at discussion of Bernard Schlink’s The Reader at the Atwater Library, I picked up a couple of sheets of paper on the seat beside me. They announced try outs for an original musical to be called Congodrama , and which will feature a dozen or so young singers, dancers, musicians and actors.
