Mark Twain, on visiting Lake Tahoe, exclaimed "Every little pebble was distinct, every speckled trout, every hand"s-breadth of sand". The water quality might not be so amazing now (apparently it"s deteriorated slightly due to global warming), but the waters are still crystal clear with a deep blue color that no camera can catch.
