Taqueria Sinaloa

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
I've been feening for some good tacos, especially since the ones in Redwood City haven't been meeting my expectations.  I had been feeling like I've been eating a lot of disappointing sub par tacos these days.  So I had to hop over to East Oakland, where the food rarely fails me.  Taqueria Sinaloa did not disappoint.  Bonus points for being close to the freeway if ever in need of a quick snack. No need to grab and go, there's a small sitting area with tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your...Read Full Story

Sancho's Taqueria

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
Sancho's (the original location) was nestled deep in the neighborhoods of Redwood City.  Its a trek to drive all the way up here.  I hoped that the decision I made to eat at the original location versus the Palo Alto branches would be worth it. These days it seems like everyone has a twist on fries.  Sancho's is no exception.  A daily special of mole fries.  The fries were thick and very potatoey with a light crisp.  The mole was much too sweet and overwhelming.  I managed to eat all the...Read Full Story

Mar y Tierra Taqueria

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
Mar y Tierra (sea and land) Taqueria is a little farther than the central Middlefield taquerias I've been visiting, but its definitely the busiest one I've encountered in the area.    From right to left:  al pastor, carne asada, carnitas.  $1.45 each here for the standard meats.  Nothing special about any of the meats.  The pastor didn't even come spicy.  Although not the greatest, its one of the better tasting tacos I've had so far in the penisula, but that's not saying much.     One of...Read Full Story

Mexcal Taqueria

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
Another one down in my taco crawl across Redwood City.  A small sit down spot located on Middlefield Road.  This place has a little bit of everything from breakfast, seafood, and your usual burritos and tacos.   Tacos run $1.25 each with fish (catfish) tacos at $3.15. Meat options: pollo, chorizo, carnitas, carne asada, lengua, pastor, pollo guisado, cabeza, and chile verde.  From bottom left, clockwise: pastor, asada, carnitas, and chorizo.  I wanted lengua, but they didn't have it that day...Read Full Story

Cholula Hot Sauce Review

By bicyclebloggers on  From mtnbikeriders.com
Not too long ago the folks at Cholula Hot Sauce sent us a 4 pack of sauces to review. The flavors included Original, Chile Lime, Chile Garlic and Chipotle. All the sauces have been tested on foods like tacos, burritos, pizza, ramen and on anything that needed an extrac kick of flavor. We thought ( THE RACE TEAM) that all sauces were great. 2 of the guys on our test panel still preferred the Original Flavor. Personally I liked the Garlic and Chile Lime the most. However, the Chipotle was...Read Full Story

Panaderia Michoacan y Taqueria

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
It's a bakery.  It's a convenience store, AND its a taqueria.  That multitasking for you.  They also have freshly made fruit juices like orange and mango, as well as carrot juice.   From left (clockwise):  carne asada, carne asada, al pastor, and barbacoa.  This is the first time I've seen barbacoa on the menu.  Barbacoa is goat or sheep meat, usually from the head or the cheek/jaw, and the preparation originates from the Caribbean.  I attempted to order the lengua here, but they were out...Read Full Story

A mexican man was busted trying to smuggle meth into the United States of America. The meth was found in the tacos and when the drug dogs came to sniff his truck the smelled the narcotics. Tacos Los Gemelos

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
Redwood city is full of taquerias and taco trucks (similar to Fruitvale/International in Oakland.)  Middlefield Street reminds me of Mexico without the little kids asking you to buy gum.  It's lined with taquerias that still cost $1.00 for a taco!    With over 50 Mexican temptations for cheap eats all within a 15 minute driving radius, how could I not say challenge accepted?  From top left, clockwise: Al pastor, carne asada, birria, chorizo I have a standard order of tacos whenever I'm...Read Full Story

Taqueria El Farolito

By chompinggrounds on  From chompinggrounds.com
San Francisco is best known for their "Mission-style" burritos.  My absolute favorite and my personal definition of a true Mission burrito is at El Farolito.  Another great thing about this place is that they open till 4a on the weekends.  The two best (and most popular) things to eat in the Mission after the bars are the bacon wrapped hot dogs and El Farolito. Carne Asada Burrito - #72 on 2012 7x7 SF's Top 100 Eats The carne asada burrito here is my favorite item on the menu.  There are two...Read Full Story
