Biography Betsey Johnson got inspired by her love for dancing and costumes. She built her career by designing for other brands until she finally started the Betsey Johnson label in 1978. The expansion started from the first shop in Soho to more shops in the USA, London, Toronto and Vancouver and eventually Japan. Several other stores sell the Betsey Johnson line in Europe and Asia.
