Betty Garrett dies at 91

Betty Garrett was an American actress, singer, dancer and comedian who was best known for playing Frank Sinatra’s sweetheart in musicals performed in the 1940s. She passed away at age 91 in Los Angeles yesterday.

She originally performed on Broadway and then signed a film contract with MGM where she appeared in many musical movies. She also made several guest appearances on quite a few tv series and finally moved into tv sitcom roles in 1970 where she appeared as Archie Bunker’s neighbor Irene Lorenzo in All in the Family and Edna Babish the landlady in Laverne and Shirley.

She was married to Larry Parks until his death in 1975.
