This is a pretty silly film, but you gotta love Betty Hutton as Pearl White. Yes the writers took liberty with the Life Story thereof, but the songs are ever sing along great. I particularly loved "Papa Don't Preach To me!" John Lund is as dead as a doornail, but you have to give a standing ovation to Hutton, who sing and acts with her usual vivacity. I did not find the color distracting (it's a hell of a lot better than the VHS tape I once owned); it's been punched-up a bit. You can see why La Hutton was the big box office draw that she was. Pity she died last March (colon cancer), nor did anything worth seeing after 1957. A splendid trip down Memory Lane.
