Google unveiled its Knowledge Graph recently, which it called the “first step in the next generation of search.” Chinese search giant Baidu isn’t impressed, saying Google’s semantic search isn’t new, and Baidu has been doing it better since 2009  

Semantic search has become a hot topic with the advent of "smart" computers like Watson and clever websites like Wolfram Alpha. Under the covers it relies on the emerging set of technologies that make up the semantic web.

Google reports it receives over 250,000 requests to take down URLs accused of copyright infringement each week. In the past month, Google has received requests from 1,000 copyright owners to remove pages from 24,000 websites from search results.  

A Wall Street Journal article on Google’s Penguin update highlighted some of the damage done to small businesses. Taking a quick look at these hurting websites offers some reasons why they have lost their search rankings and traffic from Google.
