A dawn-to-dusk general strike enforced by the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) Monday brought normal life to a halt in Assam.

The United Nations warned Friday that up to three quarters of a million people could be hit by floods and landslides brought about by torrential rainfall in Kenya.
