Big Bang

“The Cornhusker Vortex” isn’t a bad episode, but I’m not convinced it hangs together story-wise, like the best Big Bang Theory episodes do. It’s a collection of very funny scenes, but most of them don’t really go anywhere within the story as a whole, like this is a sketch comedy where the individual scenes have some but not a lot of bearing on the scenes that follow. TV News: 'Big Bang Theory,' 'Two and a Half Men' hit highs -- CBS comedy "The Big Bang Theory" surged to series highs on Monday, building on season highs for "Two and a Half Men" and lifting the Eye network to an easy victory over its network rivals. Fox, meanwhile, did OK with its Carrie Underwood holiday special.  

"The Vengeance Formulation" might be my favorite Big Bang Theory so far this season. It didn't have any single plotline that was as sustained in hilarity as last week's Sheldon and Penny extravaganza, but both plotlines were warmly funny, both treated the characters as actual human beings, and both managed to - gasp! - continue with plots introduced in previous episodes. I think I've said before that The Big Bang Theory is a very good show...

So, if you don't want to know anything more, you might want to avert your eyes now. You've been warned.  

"The Adhesive Duck Deficiency" has everything I love about The Big Bang Theory and everything I find enervating about it so close to each other that it almost serves as a perfect object lesson about what makes individual episodes of the show work or not work. There's one plot that relies heavily on its character interplay and entertaining dynamics, while the other plot relies almost entirely on stupid sitcom logic and making its characters...

Last Monday, FOX took advantage of weakened competition. This time around, it was CBS’ turn. A House-free evening helped the network win both the viewers and the demos. 8pm How I Met Your Mother (3.5/10 in 18-49) kicked off the evening with 9.1 million viewers. Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special (2.3/6) got 8.5 million singing for FOX. Accidentally on Purpose (2.9/8) scored 8.3 million. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (2.7/7...
