"The Maternal Congruence" is just an odd episode of The Big Bang Theory on a lot of levels. The structure of it is all over the place, as if the show that's usually content to inflate sketches into stories on a weekly basis suddenly started to try to tell a bunch of different stories at once. The character relationships are solid, but there's also a sense that some things are happening just because the writers need them to happen to further...  

"The Vengeance Formulation" might be my favorite Big Bang Theory so far this season. It didn't have any single plotline that was as sustained in hilarity as last week's Sheldon and Penny extravaganza, but both plotlines were warmly funny, both treated the characters as actual human beings, and both managed to - gasp! - continue with plots introduced in previous episodes. I think I've said before that The Big Bang Theory is a very good show...  

CBS was kind enough to send out screeners in advance of tonight's episode, so we could see what all the hoopla about Katee Sackhoff's guest appearance is for, and how Howard's encounter went with "Starbuck." So, if you don't want to know anything more, you might want to avert your eyes now. You've been warned.

"The Adhesive Duck Deficiency" has everything I love about The Big Bang Theory and everything I find enervating about it so close to each other that it almost serves as a perfect object lesson about what makes individual episodes of the show work or not work. There's one plot that relies heavily on its character interplay and entertaining dynamics, while the other plot relies almost entirely on stupid sitcom logic and making its characters...  

I’m stepping in for a vacationing Todd tonight, revisiting my old Big Bang Theory stomping grounds. Even though I stopped being the point-man for BBT coverage during the off-season—largely because I felt like I’d said about all I had to say about the show—I’ve still been watching this third season, and enjoying it. This season has only provided one all-time classic—“The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary,” which could well be the best BBT episode...  

MINNEAPOLIS (AdAge.com) -- With viewers and reviewers giddy about "Glee," it wasn't surprising that Fox's hit led with four Golden Globe nominations when they were announced this morning. What was less expected was the snub of "Big Bang Theory," CBS's even bigger hit that is a breakout critical, cultural and commercial success.  

In honor of our show’s scientific heroes, Big Bang theorists, I’m going to do a bit of an experiment with tonight’s Big Bang Theory recap. The Christmas season visit by Leonard Hofstadter’s mother Beverly, played by the inestimably fabulous Christine Baranski, was overflowing with so many great moments, so many great lines, and so mind-meltingly  

(S03E11) Christine Baranski is back! I loved this episode, but it was way too short. It was so fast-paced, that it seemed like it was over before it even got started. They really picked up where they left off the last time she guest-starred. In that episode; they established how she and Sheldon were basically the same person and hinted at a Mrs. Robinson-type relationship. In this episode, they totally went there. Sure, she was drunk and...  

The Big Bang Theory was Monday's top-rated show, posting the biggest number of overall viewers in the series history. Big Bang was watched by 14.7 million viewers, and dominated the competition in the adults-18-to-49 demographic. The show got a boost ...  

Last Monday, FOX took advantage of weakened competition. This time around, it was CBS’ turn. A House-free evening helped the network win both the viewers and the demos. 8pm How I Met Your Mother (3.5/10 in 18-49) kicked off the evening with 9.1 million viewers. Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special (2.3/6) got 8.5 million singing for FOX. Accidentally on Purpose (2.9/8) scored 8.3 million. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (2.7/7...
