PRINCETON-BY-THE-SEA — Rescue teams pulled two men out of the water off the San Mateo County coast Friday evening amid high waves and gusty winds, but the second boater later died at a hospital. Two men in a boat fired a flare after their vessel capsized at 4:30 p.m. just south of Pillar Point near Princeton-by-the-Sea, where the Mavericks Surf Contest is held, Coast Guard Petty Officer Dorian Jackson said.
