Ghostbusters III Goes To Pieces As Bill Murray Rejects The Script

Ghostbusters
The possibility of a threequel to Ghostbusters has been something mooted around Hollywood for years now.  With Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis already interested it’s come down to the involvement of Bill Murray as to whether they press ahead with it, the feeling having always been it’s all or nothing, which is probably a good frame of mind to be in.  Unfortunately, however, it seems that the latest draught of a script sent by Akroyd to Murray may well have scuppered the whole project.  There’s no hint as to what the script may have contained, but if its alleged condition on return to Akroyd is anything to go by, it can’t have been good.  It’s being reported (by the National Enquirer no less, so take this with a pinch of salt!) that Bill Murrays response was to shred the script and return it along with the note; “No-one want’s to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts”. Depending on your point of view this is either fantastic news or terrible news.  Fantastic in that Ghosbusters 3 should indeed feature all the original ‘Buster’s, including the often ignored Ernie Hudson, so a film without Murray won’t be worth watching.  Or terrible in that this likely means we won’t see a new Ghostbusters film any time soon.  So a bittersweet pill really, however you look at it.  Despite Murrays constant will he/won’t he involvement Akroyd has always maintained that the film will be made regardless, but with cast members such as Sigourney Weaver refusing to be involved in a Murray-less version it looks like we’re still some way off from a definitive announcement.  In the meantime, and in the spirit of Christmas (ok New Year, which is when the film is set) refresh your Ghostbusting skills by watching this trailer to the sequel everyone did do, Ghostbusters II.
