Billy Joe Saunders beat southern area champion Gary Boulden by a unanimous decision on Saturday night at Wembley Arena. Saunders, a former amateur star and Olympian, won nearly every round as he out-boxed and out-worked Boulden for the full 10 rounds, the referee scoring the fight 99-92. No relation, just a co-incidence, and another co-incidence was that they both looked very impressive with easy 1st round wins. Billy Joe Saunders, winning easily 14-3 on points and hardly took a punch of note, and this was against a bronze world championship winning fighter from Turkey. 1st up was Billy Joe, against tough Cuban Carlos Banteaux and he went behind quite quickly in the first round and was 1-4down, but recovered in the 2nd it went to 4-4 however that did not last long, and he was 4-8 down in a few seconds.
