Bipolar-Mania?
Sorry for yet another bipolar question but I’m confused. I’ve been taking lithium for a month (started at 900 and was increased to 1200mg) and the depression is almost entirely gone. But I’m still having manic “attacks”! And they’re not even normal… as in they don’t last for days. Last night my attack only lasted for an hour but I had rapid speech, rapid thoughts, I was extremely giddy and euphoric, I had high energy and all that, I even had hallucinations (at least I think they were)… the wall kind of opened and the tv went into it and there were “things” flying out of the left wall and for a long time I thought there was a monkey on my bed but it turned out to be my bedspread lol. But I’ve never had hallucinations before so maybe I was just tired? Anyway what do you guys think? Do you think this will continue?

are you taking other meds with your lithium? how long ago was the increase? 1200 a day is usually the max, and you shouldnt under any circumstances stop suddenly. if the symptoms you described continue after your next dose, you should see your prescriber these things you are describing are known as extra pyramidal side effects and should be taken seriously. see your prescriber
