What Are The Side Effects Of Birth Control

There are many different methods of birth control. There are condoms, hormonal contraceptives, and even the Pill. The most common of form of birth control is the Pill – which is taken by the mouth by a woman. It is 99.9% effective.

While you might be preventing a pregnancy by using birth control you have to take into account the side effects that come with it. The most common side effects of birth control are headaches, nausea, weight gain, changes in mood, tenderness in the breast, and irregular bleeding.

Most women will notice that these side effects of birth control will leave after only a few months after they started using the birth control. They may still notice short and frequent menstrual periods or breakthrough bleeding – but this is usually temporary and is not serious.

Most women who have a history of suffering from migraines will notice that they will be experiencing them more frequently. Unless those migraines are caused by the fluctuations of their hormones. In this case they may see an improvement when using oral contraceptives because they have more uniform hormone levels.

It is uncommon – but some oral contraceptives may cause an increase in blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots. Women over the age of 35, who smoke, or have some medical conditions should not take oral contraceptives. You should ask your doctor what the best form of birth control would be for your body type.
