Saddening news broke yesterday evening that Roadrunner Records will be closing its UK offices. As of yet, there is no official statement from our good friends at the company, but a number of bands on the Roadrunner roster have responded with their thoughts...  

In the light of the 100% shit news that Roadrunner UK is closing, we dedicated this week's Metal Hammer to one of the greatest record labels ever. Following our the article we publish yesterday which told of Roadrunner Records apparent decision to shut down their UK and European offices, (http://www.stereoboard.com/content/view/172217/9) it now appears that staff at their all-important US offices could be losing their jobs too.  

Industry News: Roadrunner Records' remaining staff are determined to keep the label's values alive after its parent company hacked the headcount to pieces last month.

Vivendi is denying reports that it may spin-off Universal Music and Activsion. The company says it "learned with stupefaction of the claims made by Bloomberg in a story published tonight about its strategy... (they) are unfounded and based on anonymous sources." Longstanding Roadrunner Records appears to be on the way to extinction with Warner Music gutting the label including founder and CEO Cees Wessels along with about 36 staffers. U.S...  

As a result of the 2010 merger with WMG... Billboard reports that Roadrunner Records (home of Slipknot, Korn, Megadeth and Nickelback, among others) CEO/founder Cees Wessels is leaving the label seventeen months after it was sold to the Warner Music Group.  

Iconic metal label Roadrunner Records, whose artists include Slipknot, Korn, Megadeth and Nickelback, shut its offices in the UK, Germany and Canada and Australia this week following the completion of its sale to Warner Music Group 17 months ago.
