Having given a number of presentations to various interested groups, I am now building on this interest and have encouraged amateur orchestras and choirs to perform music by black classical musicians, especially Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. I've had some success so far with this. His name always gets mentioned first when talking on the subject, so he has been the easiest composer to introduce and promote in the UK. As far as Saint-George is concerned, I have a personal interest in him because he lived in my favourite musical era.” “I will be giving a presentation on black classical musicians at the Southampton Recorded Music Society on 4th July.” “I will not be performing any music myself but will be using extracts of recorded music to illustrate the composer histories.
