Being a socialite is an attitude, a personality, a way of life. Usually a socially prominent person. Socialites can be male or female. Many socialites use their rank to support causes they believe in. Some of the functions socialites attend are galas, political events, store or film openings, fine-art and charity events. Many Black socialites are members of civil rights organizations, fraternities and sororities. Socialite usually are members of important boards and organizations, especially philanthropic groups.
