Fashion Etiquette: 5 Tips On What Not To Wear To Prom ‘09
It’s almost May, kids. And you know what that means. Warm weather, school is almost over and prom!
We have seen our share of gawd-awful prom dresses here at “She So Ghetto”. The gold spandex and and home made stripper dresses (if you can call them that) are not good choices.
As with most formal occasions, such as proms, it is best to keep a classic look. It’s best to be pretty, not flashy. Classy, not trashy.
Here are our 5 Tips On What Not To Wear To Prom ‘09!
Totally Inappropriate!
1. Watch your color pallet.
Choose a color that complements your complexion.
The crimson and blue dress in the middle just might work without the cut-outs (See the 4th pic down), but the gold sheet and the bubble gum pink and boo berry combo should go!
2. Wear an actual dress, not club wear or pieces of fabric sewn to cover your boobs and butt.
Club wear is not prom wear. Did you get that?
Club wear is for strippers and hoochies on a hot friday night, not for you or your daughters to wear to a classic and formal event. Don’t be the one to look as if you should be on the street corner versus the prom.
3. Spanx Me.
It’s either a girdle or control top hose, girls. Bare legs are not doing it anymore. But, if you want bare calf and feet in an open toe palm shoes, you will still want to wear a control top panty under your dress to hold in that “just ate dinner before prom” belly.
4. Go Glam With Your Hair
Yes, it’s time to do that updo that you do so well. You’ll have to make a decision on what to show off the most. A gorgeous hair do or your dress. Remember, everything in moderation. Too much of anything is just too much.

5. Shoe Me This….
Don’t over do the shoe. Again, choose the centerpiece of your emsemble. The hair, dress or the shoe. Don’t pick a short dress with shoes that wrap up the leg or a shoe that has too much going on the coordinate with your dress.

Too Much Color Can Kill a Dress

Prom WTF?
Solutions: Our Picks Below
Short and Sassy
If you must show skin, show it in the right places. Strapless dresses are a classy way to feel and look feminine. Check out the color palette. A multiple range of color within the same color family looks streamlined. Too much color or too much pattern makes a dress unbearable to look at.
Going Long With Rich Color
I love this bold, color rich indian spice color gown with gold accents in all the right places.
Classic Prom Princess
Prom Belles always pick the classic corset top and princess bottom dress. Great for any shape. Modest and feminine, but this is still showing off some of that grown-up shoulder.
Tres Moderne: Prom Dress With Dot and Pattern
Go a little modern with a bold pattern match on a simple creme background.
