Right. Just when you think that things truly can’t get any weirder, you read stuff like this: BLACKBURN Rovers have become the first Premiership club to install a prayer room where supporters can worship. The sound-proofed match day facility will replace a toilet block and contains prayer mats and religious texts. Club chiefs hope the room, in the Blackburn End stand, will attract more fans from different faiths and backgrounds. Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind people praying to whatever God Who takes their fancy but surely, there’s a time and place for everything. If you are having sex, for instance, it’s ... Read Full Story

LONDON (AFP) - Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz has admitted that he would consider leaving the Premier League outfit if "a bigger club came in for me" during the January transfer window. New Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has insisted he wants the 27-year-old Paraguay forward to stay at Ewood Park, but speculation is growing linking him with cash-rich Manchester City, the club of his former boss Mark Hughes. "Everybody knows my opinion (regarding a possible transfer), I am happy at Blackburn but also I want to keep improving my football and remain ambitious," Santa Cruz told BBC radio on Friday. "My contract with Blackburn ... Read Full Story

Have a look at these two photographs from the official Blackburn Rovers profile page. Anything seem dodgy? Well spotted - Carlos Villanueva’s head has been superimposed on Roque Santa Cruz’s body in a rather crude example of poor Photoshop skills. I feel sorry for his sponsors, to have their name against this tacky pic in the programme doesn’t exactly give the right impression one would think. But why? Is King Carlos not real? He was also missing from the official team photo, and there was another pic in the programme of the same shot being superimposed on a different pic. Clearly the standard of ... Read Full Story

Just as Lieutenant Colonel Tim Collins famously addressed his Royal Irish troops on the eve of their entry into battle (see below - it’s a fantastic speech), in an altogether different way I feel dread, anticipation and an air of inevitably that we are today entering an unknown future for Blackburn Rovers. Never mind the recent ‘performances’. Never mind if we like/dislike Paul Ince, wanted him to fail/do well, of if we have shifted our views of Sam Allardyce to suit the dramatic & catastrophic decline in our fortunes. Never mind Ince’s blast at the media yesterday, which only serves to get them writing ... Read Full Story

Blackburn Rovers worst players of recent times In light of Jason Roberts’s glaring misses, we were discussing who we considered to be the worst Blackburn Rovers players of recent times. The problem - as any Rovers fan will know - is that there’s simply been too many of them, so I feel it’s only fair to add some criteria to subdivide them. So, here’s my selection criteria:- Players must have played at least ONE senior game for Blackburn Rovers; Any registered player (inc. loan or permanent signing) can be considered; Timescale should be since Jack Walker got involved, and post-Don McKay, so any players ...
