The basic concept of the Martingale Betting System is that you double your bet after each loss until you win.
We are often asked if Martingale progression is a good betting system to use for blackjack, especially online blackjack.
If you are using Martingale system then you risk losing a significant amount of money in a short period of time, such as 8-10 hands. That’s why this betting system can be effective only under certain conditions.
So, one condition is that the online casinos must allow low minimum bets like $0.1. Therefore, you have many hands to lose until you start making large bets like $50. Your bets would be $0.1, $0.2, $0.4, $0.8, $1.6, $3.2, $6.4, $12.8, $25.6, $51.2.
However, you’ll lose a lot of the time if you start betting with 0.1 and play by yourself. This is where the ABCCounter software can solve the problem, as it can play all of these hands instead of you. This will save you valuable time while minimizing the risk involved with using the Martingale system.
Unfortunately, the low minimum bet is still not sufficient to guarantee you success with Martingale when playing blackjack. The playing strategy must be changed too if you use this betting system. For instance, if you play using basic strategy, you should not double, but rather hit. Since you double the bet after each losing hand, there is no reason to double again and lower your number of losing hands until you reach the big bet. Another reason for not doubling is that you may be dealt a low card, so you won’t be able to hit again and win that hand.
