Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert got his first win last night against a heavily favored Baltimore Ravens team. Gabbert's Jacksonville Jaguars prevailed in a defensive battle, edging out the playoff favorite Ravens, 12-7. It was also Gabbert's Monday Night Football debut, and while he didn't exactly have the performance of a lifetime, he got the Jags a much needed win.
Gabbert ended the game completing just nine passes for under 100 yards, but he didn't turn the ball over, which was enough to outdo Ravens QB Joe Flacco. The Jaguars are now 2-5 and still in contention for the AFC South playoff spot.
Gabbert was drafted by the Jags in the first round and found his way into the starting role after Luke McCown's poor performance following former starter David Garrard's release from the team. Up next for Gabbert is division leader Houston Texans.
