Since its release of Warcraft in 1994, it has been one of the most successful game development studios in the world. Its headquarters are based in Irvine, California. The company has a history of largely overshooting release dates, to ensure the quality of their games. Many Blizzard fans see this as somewhat of a blessing in disguise, as Blizzard has a reputation for producing classic games that are played for years to come after their release. Many of their games since Warcraft have been best-sellers.
Following protests, a petition and even alternative images by Diablo II fans at the cartoon-like quality of the initial screenshots released by Blizzard a new set of images has been released baring a striking similarity to the suggested renderings of the protesters.

The achievement system coming to World of Warcraft is old news, but it looks like Blizzard is planning that same meta-game addictiveness for Diablo III and StarCraft II.
The system is "basically a gamerscore," lead designer Jeff Kaplan told MTV, referencing the point system found in Microsoft's Xbox 360 console.
