The British are a great race of snobs. There's always someone looking down on someone else whether its because of where they live, what car they drive, which supermarket they shop at or what they do for a living: as a consequence you can bet that we Brits will pigeon-hole you and will form an opinion about you based upon your social and economic status without a by-your-leave which in turn will affect how we treat you as a person. Now I'm sufficiently travelled to have seen that most... Read Full Story
I’ve just turned down the biggest contract of the year so far for my business. The client wanted to give us the work and we were excited at pitching for it. However despite travelling up and down the country several times whilst negotiating the deal and having beaten off the competition, I decided to walk away at the eleventh hour before pen was put to paper. Why would I do this in the current economic climate? Surely I must be one wave short of a shipwreck? You may think so; however being... Read Full Story
A blog on any website can be a great asset in helping a business generate traffic to its website, building site loyalty and communicating with customers. But how do you go about getting one off the ground? One of the requests we often get from our clients is "Can we have a blog on our website?". The answer to this question is always "yes" but hang on a mo if this is you! Let's take a step back here and think about why you want one. A couple of years ago the question was always "Can we have a... Read Full Story
Before you read further you should note that this post is a ‘rant’ about an issue that we’ve experienced in our business. I want to get it off my chest so read this post as you find it, nothing more and nothing less. Consider yourself warned. Here goes… Some months ago we got an enquiry from a new start-up who was keen to launch a website that would be ‘pivotal to the success’ of her business. Fine by us: our forte is working with companies who can see the business benefits of the web, but... Read Full Story
I love writing posts for this blog, but as any blogger will tell you: generating new, original and readable posts on a regular basis that people actually look at is hard work! So I need some assistance and am turning to my fellow blog readers, businesses associates and networkers for help. Whether you maintain your own blog or not (and why wouldn't you ?) - if you're involved in a business that delivers a specific product or service that helps people out by addressing a specific need; then... Recently I joined a local business networking organisation called 4Networking.biz . Business networking forms part of the promotional strategy for my business and this particular group that I've joined in Wakefield, looks to have potential. Members of 4Networking are allowed to "Passport" (as they call it) around the numerous different groups across the UK, all of which meet fortnightly. There's enough groups within my locality of Yorkshire, to keep me attending 4 days per week if I so... Read Full Story
Venturefest Yorkshire is " an expo of Yorkshire's most inspiring science, technology and knowledge entrepreneurs " which is held at the Knavesmire Stand at York Racecourse in the UK. The City of York is about a 40 minute drive from my office and today was 2009's Yorkshire Venturefest expo. However was it worth the petrol, the £1.50 per cups of coffee and the overpriced steak burgers? Let's see... At these events it's typical to see a good mix of different business types, exhibiting. This... Read Full Story
I have been awarded this by Denise at KKl Primitives Blog. This is what Denise had to say; Carol's personal blog dedicated to her daughter Shannon, who has Down Syndrome . I enjoy reading about life with Shannon. One particular post that had me smiling was when Shannon's dad cut her bangs and forgot to put the scissors out of reach. Like any other child, Shannon got the scissors and proceeded to give herself a 'little' trim on the top as well, and according to Carol, there wasn't much hair... Read Full Story
This morning I was up with the larks to attend a local business networking meeting which is held at a nearby hotel in Cleckheaton. A 7.30am start, which means I had to be all suited up and out of the house by quarter past. Thankfully I live only a couple of miles away from the place; otherwise it would have been an even earlier start! I’ve been top these kinds of events before and at one stage, would have been described as a “networking tart” by many that know me because of the large number... Read Full Story
I am aiming for 100 drops in a day. So far I have not been able to do that. I figure since the drops start over at 11 pm my time I can get started on that days drops. If I get up 5am to start I might just make it. My problem is that I get sidetracked when something catches my interest and I just got to stay and read it and maybe possibly comment on it. Also I finally got my widget uploaded so I am SOMEBODY now. I will post it when I hit my 100 mark. So drop on by and visit. Ladyhawkcj
