I am aiming for 100 drops in a day. So far I have not been able to do that. I figure since the drops start over at 11 pm my time I can get started on that days drops. If I get up 5am to start I might just make it. My problem is that I get sidetracked when something catches my interest and I just got to stay and read it and maybe possibly comment on it. Also I finally got my widget uploaded so I am SOMEBODY now. I will post it when I hit my 100 mark. So drop on by and visit. Ladyhawkcj

This morning I was up with the larks to attend a local business networking meeting which is held at a nearby hotel in Cleckheaton. A 7.30am start, which means I had to be all suited up and out of the house by quarter past. Thankfully I live only a couple of miles away from the place; otherwise it would have been an even earlier start! I’ve been top these kinds of events before and at one stage, would have been described as a “networking tart” by many that know me because of the large number... Read Full Story
On a fairly frequent basis we get emails and letters from people who are looking for employment.
Such people may be looking for web design and development positions or they may be looking for administrative style jobs.
We always reply even if it’s a polite rejection letter as we consider this to be good manners. After all, there’s nothing quite so disheartening than sending out letters left, right and centre when you’re looking for work and not getting a reply.
Anyway, whichever way... Read Full Story
“You’re writing a what?!” “Why are you doing that then?!” Just two of the responses I got from less ‘marketing literate’ business people when I told them I was a blogger! “Oh, I haven’t got time for all that” was another comment, and “no-one would find my business that interesting” was yet another. These were comments gained from an offline – face to face networking meeting several months ago so maybe they just haven’t caught up with the rest of the business world yet, but if you are serious... Each year the UK's Royal Mail commissions a market research project which keeps an eye on the habits of the home shopper. The survey is called the " Home Shopping Tracker Survey " and highlights of 2008's survey may be downloaded from the Royal Mail site by following this link (note the amusing typographical errors in the first paragraph of this web page - someone's editorial comments obviously got left in!) Anyway, what makes the report interesting is some of the stats that have come out of... Read Full Story
50th Anniversary McDonald's in River North, Chicago In a story appearing in today's Chicago Tribune, McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner reports that his biggest pet peeve is when a worker fills a cup of coffee directly from the drip dispenser instead of waiting for the pot to be filled. "You don't get the best cup of coffee that way," he said. Having myself worked at a McDonald's restaurant in the St. Louis area when Skinner was getting his start with the organization as a manager trainee in... Read Full Story
Photo by woodsy According to the majority of information available on procrastination, the reason that most people procrastinate is because they have a fear of failure or a fear of success or they are just plain lazy. In contrast, I think it has nothing to do with fear but rather a lack of motivation. We all like to see results, to be able to see that we are making progress, but if we don’t perceive that what we are doing is actually helping us to get to where we want to be in life, we won’t... A review of SCOTUSBLOG Providers of professional services, including lawyers, consultants, accountants and doctors, face a uniquely awkward sales challenge. Discouraged or prevented by law or practice from conspicuously flogging their services, most market their services through bone-dry websites. A few have begun to realize the potential of blogging to help them make more personal, but unobtrusive, contact with prospective clients. Among those leading the way is Akin Gump Strauss Hauer... I’m of a sufficient age to have witnessed the march of technology within the office environment during my working life. Admittedly I don’t recall a time before the telephone (give me some credit for goodness sake) but I do remember telex machines which took up an entire corner of the office and PCs being introduced into the company I worked for at the time in the late 1980s. These ran on DOS of course: none of this “Windows” stuff! Windows 3.1 followed closely afterwards sometime back in... Read Full Story
If there's one Internet marketing technique that is on every website owners lips, it's 'blogging'. But why should you bother? Blogging is a concept that started in late 90s. It used to be a way to comment on an existing webpage, an opportunity for visitors and readers to react or voice out one's opinion on the page. What started as a single-sentence commentary has evolved into pages of personal take on just about anything and everything under the sun. As it continues to move forward, online... Read Full Story
