This week’s question for the Beginners Blog is one that most people want to know the answer to. We have talked about the basics of setting up a blog and using keywords and good SEO practices when you begin a blog of your own and it is now time to talk about what most people want to do with their blogs:
How do I earn money from my blog?
It is relatively easy to start to earn some money on a blog. In the beginning you won’t earn millions or even hundreds but you can start the framework to begin to earn money right away in some cases. The easiest place to begin is to get yourself a Google Adsense account. Once you have created that account, you can create ad blocks to have on your blog. Most veteran bloggers will tell you to make sure that your Adsense ads are “above the fold” on your page to earn the best income. What that means is to have the AdSense block of ads on the page above where someone will have to scroll to read the rest of the post. Google will read the content of your post and try to match ads with what you are writing about. If people click on one of those ads, you will earn money. Whatever you do, DO NOT click on ads from your own page! Google will be able to tell and will shut your account down.
Another way to make money on your beginner blog is to start to sign up for Affiliate advertising. There are many that you can use. You will need to sign up for an account and then ask member Advertisers to become an affiliate. Some of the more popular ones to start with are:
There are many other affiliate programs that you can work with. The three above are relatively easy to obtain an account for. One suggestion is that you wait until you have blogged for at least 30 days before applying for an account with any affiliate program. Potential advertisers will want to check your blog out to see if it is a good fit for them.
Once you have successfully found advertisers who are willing to let you use their links, you can then add banners or in most cases put a link within you text for one of their products that is related to your topic.
I won’t pretend that you will start to get payments right out of the gate. This takes some work on your part to find the affiliates and to find products that you want to advertise. Make the company’s and products relevant to your beginner blog topics and you will start to see your income grow in time. This is a simplified answer on how to make money on a beginners blog, but it is a place to start.
