Last night I attended the 20th Annual Awards Gala for the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The black tie event was held at the Convention Center in beautiful downtown Palm Springs. Sierra Leone's war crimes court was preparing Wednesday to hand down a verdict in the case of three former RUF rebel leaders accused of committing atrocities. But a crowd of some 200 people gathered outside the court to hear the verdict reacted with disappointment and impatience to news of a delay of several hours.
