For immediate Release Windsor Ontario Feb.3, 2009

Four out of the five nominations in the Blues Album of the Year category of the 2009 Juno Awards (nominations announced today) are artists that have played Bluesfest Windsor many times and two have or are about to be inducted into the Canada South Blues Museum.

• “Get Way Back: A Tribute to Percy Mayfield” - Amos Garrett

• “Acoustic Blues: Got ‘em From the Bottom”  -  Big Dave McLean

• “Mess of Blues” - Jeff Healey

* “Love & Sound” - Garrett Mason

The Jeff Healey CD was released shortly after the guitarist died last March; the artist, the album, and his sidemen earned no less than seven Maple Blues Awards last month, and the album is nominated in the Rock Blues category of the Blues Awards, being held in Memphis Tennessee on May 7. “Mess of Blues” earned Best Blues Album honours at the Independent Music Awards in the U.S. last month.

Jeff Healey will be inducted into the Canada South Blues Museum Saturday March 28 @ Knights of Columbus Hall  1286 Lauzon Road Windsor.

Jeff Healey's Blues Band (who nearly stole the show @ Bluesfest 2008) will perform live with Christie Healey accepting Jeff's induction star. Joining Jeff Healey's Blues Band is the original Buzzard Band, their first show in nearly 20 years. Opening the show is Teddy Richards from Detroit. Richards is an amazing singer songwriter whose written songs for INXS, NBC Sports and his day gig is playing guitar with his mother Aretha Franklin.

This show is a fundraiser for Crossroads Centre for Personal Empowerment.
