The Trump International Golf Course will host the Puerto Rico Open for the second time this year. While the rest of the PGA Tour fight it out in the WGC-CA Championships, the rest of the tour head south to sunny Puerto Rico. Americans Mark Wilson and Bo Van Pelt shared the lead at 11-under par 199 here Saturday after the third round of the 3.6 million-dollar US PGA Mayakoba Golf Classic. Van Pelt fired a three-under par 67 to move into a share of the lead with Wilson, who shot 69. Van Pelt birdied the eighth before taking his and only bogey to finish the front nine. US veteran Bo Van Pelt fired a sizzling seven-under par 63 here Thursday to seize a two-stroke lead after the opening round of the 3.6 million-dollar US PGA Mayakoba Classic. Van Pelt began on the back nine, making a birdie on the only par-5 hole on the back side, the 13th, and taking his only bogey at the par-4 17th. Van Pelt beat John Mallinger on the second playoff hole to win the U.S. Bank Championship on Sunday after the tournament went to sudden death for the first time since 2001. But even with the dramatic finish, the tournament may not return after U.S. Bank previously announced it would not renew its sponsorship after a six-year run. It strikes me that it's been at least 15 minutes since I've posted a transcript of an ESPN personality ripping the Redskins. Better get on that. Scott Van Pelt, though, is a special case. He's one of you. He's from D.C. and makes no bones about it, especially regarding the Terps but also when it comes to the other D.C. teams.
