Bob Dylan's Outhouse Is Grossing Out the Neighbors

This is what my life comes down to, dealing with Bob Dylan's toilet. - Malibu Mayor Andy SternThe singer's Malibu neighbors aren't happy with the portable toilet Dylan has kept in his back yard for about two years now, asserting that the ocean breeze blows a strong chemical smell into their yards and through their windows at night. Next-door neighbor Cindy Emminger claims that she and her son have both been struck ill by the wafting odor and nausea is a common occurrence when the wind comes in.

Dylan, 67, has so far not responded to requests to remove the toilet, and has also not responded to any reporters inquiring about his backyard shitbox.

The LA Times reports that the Emminger family has installed five industrial-size fans at their property's edge to blow back the breeze and the accompanying smell. The fans have helped, but they apparently aren't any match for the wind and the stink.

I admit it sounds a little off-putting, but I'm having a hard time believing that one portable toilet (installed for some of Dylan's hired help) is causing that much inconvenience. Admittedly I haven't been hanging out in the Emminger's ocean-side back yard, but I don't see how that one toilet can be so awful.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune spoke with Malibu Mayor Andy Stern, who gave the best reaction to the situation.

"This is what my life comes down to, dealing with Bob Dylan's toilet," Stern said.
