In the aftermath of the announcement by Governor Beverly Perdue (D-NC) that she would not seek re-election, there has been an opening for Democrats to become the top Tar Heel. Today, former Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-NC 2nd), announced that he was throwing his hat in the ring. The 70 year old, seven term Congressman who represents part of Raleigh, made headlines two years ago for his ornery sidewalk interrogations of blue blazer wearing interns.

After Etheridge lost his seat to Representative Renee Jacisin Ellmers (R-NC 2nd) after a recount by 1,489 votes, Gov. Perdue named Etheridge to head of North Carolina’s Office of Economic Recovery and Investment, presumably since he was adept at strong arming anyone he encountered. Etheridge’s assault on the North Carolina Governor’s mansion may only be a besotten dream. But if this vision does take fruition, he will have the perfect campaign song–”Who Are You?”
