[Creigh] Deeds adviser Mo Elleithee insisted during an earlier conference call with reporters that the thesis provided a “road map” for how McDonnell would govern.
“This has the potential to really change the dynamics of the race,” Elleithee said.
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, who also chairs the Democratic National Committee, echoed Elleithee’s comments, calling the thesis McDonnell’s “political blueprint.”
“All people are entitled to their personal beliefs,” Kaine said. “After years of working with Bob, I believe this article is an accurate reflection of his sincere and long-standing views.”
The Washington Post reported:
“If you’re going to run on a jobs platform, how do you do that when you relegate half of the working population to second-class status? Because that’s what this paper he wrote reveals,” said Del. Margaret G. Vanderhye (D-Fairfax).
The most stinging criticism came from the DNC:
In Bob McDonnell’s preferred Virginia, women would be stigmatized for choosing to work outside the home, access to contraception would be all but banned and women would be denied equal pay for equal work. In Bob McDonnell’s preferred Virginia, the medical decisions of women and their doctors would be criminalized and the victims of rape and incest would have no medical recourse. While Virginians want to keep the Commonwealth moving forward, these devastating revelations prove that Bob McDonnell wants to take Virginia backwards.
And to be clear, these were not the musings of young student, but rather a 34-year old married man on the cusp of elected office who would go on to doggedly pursue the extreme agenda he called for once in that office.
The end result of this muckraking? Bob McDonnell wins 58-41%. The Democrats failed to realize that the people of Virginia are smarter than the dumb hicks the elitist left takes them for.
So almost a year and a half into McDonnell’s term as Governor where are we as a state? Is McDonnell “doggedly” pursuing an extremist agenda? Let’s examine the facts:
Women still have the right to vote and work outside of the home; no legislation or executive orders pending to restrict these rights. The medical decisions of women and their doctors have not become criminalized and the victims of rape and incest still have medical recourse; no legislation or executive orders pending to restrict these rights. Women still have access to contraception; no legislation or executive orders pending to restrict these rights. Women are not denied equal pay for equal work; no legislation or executive orders pending to restrict these rights. Women are not relegated to “second-class status”; no legislation or executive orders pending to restrict these rights.
As it turns out his college thesis wasn’t the “political blueprint” that the Democrats said it would be – They were just talking with their proverbial “heads up their A#%es”.
What we do have instead of a Sharia Law like police state for women is:
A balanced state budget after 8 years of a Democrat-spending-free-for-all. No raising of taxes. $6 billion in spending cut from the state budget. $4 billion for transportation (not nearly enough, but a decent start to a big problem) We’re taking steps to increase oil production off the coast of Virginia More economic opportunities coming to the state than ever before
The moral of the story is the next time you hear the Democrats go on and on about how evil a Republican is, remember the nonsensical attacks on Bob McDonnell.
