Bob Mercer, a music industry legend who helped make EMI one of the four major record labels and went on to help launched the "NOW That's What I Call Music" franchise in the US, has passed away at the age of 65. Bob Mercer (nytimes.com). Mercer began his career at General Food, before EMI hired him on to help shake up their marketing.
