Dick Wadhams running true to form

The Denver Post is continuing to run with the Bob Schaffer story.  Today, it focuses on Schaffer's relationship with Benigno Fitial, governor of the Northern Marianas and a close associate of Jack Abramoff.

Schaffer helped Fitial's political career by twice endorsing him.  When the Post asked the Schaffer campaign about it, Dick Wadham, Schaffer's campaign manager, offered this less-than-brilliant, so 1986 retort, "The Denver Post continues its character assassination of Bob Schaffer."

When the story broke yesterday, Wadhams told 9News that the Post article was "a classic hit piece" and pointed to a Democrat who also supposedly had ties to Abramoff.

"We do look forward to when Boulder liberal Udall has Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to Colorado for Boulder liberal Udall to defend Sen. Reid's involvement with Abramoff," he said.

That last sentence reads like it was formed in the reptilian part of the brain.  When backed into a corner, throw grammar out the window, say something bad about a Democrat, and use the word "liberal" as much as you can.
