For national voters to know how the Presidential Candidates stand on issues, go to the 2008 Presidential Voter Guide before you go to cast your vote.

Since Colorado has one of the most important Senate races going on in this country, it is so very important that we all be well-informed as we head to the polls. The following are facts on where Bob Schaffer and Mark Udall stand on main issues:

LIFE - Does the candidate support pro-life policies?

Bob Schaffer - Yes - Schaffer earned a 100 percent pro-life voting record in Congress, according to the National Right to Life Committee.

Mark Udall - No - Udall has a 0 percent lifetime voting record from National Right to Life. He supports partial-birth abortion and regularly receives donations from Warren Hern, the controversial late-term abortionist from Boulder.

MARRIAGE - Does the cadidate support traditional marriage and oppose the agenda of the gay lobby?

Bob Schaffer - Yes - Schaffer supports preserving marriage as the union of one man and one woman. He opposes allowing open homosexuality in the armed forces. He supported the right of the Boy Scouts to choose troop leaders based on their moral standards.

Mark Udall - No - Udall voted against the federal marriage amendment and supported domestic partnerhsips in Colorado. He has a lifetime rating of 100 percent from the nation’s top gay rights organization. He’s a sponsor of a bill to allow open homosexuality in the armed forces. He supported using federal funds to punish the Boy Scouts for not allowing homosexual troop leaders.

JUDGES - Does the candidate support the confirmation of judges like John Roberts and Samuel Alito, who will uphold the Constitution rather than re-write it?

Bob Schaffer - Yes - Schaffer has stated that he would have supported both Roberts and Alito. He also affirms his support for judges who will exercise judicial restraint–interpreting the law rather than making the law.

Mark Udall - No - Udall voiced support for Roberts and criticism of Alito. Party pressure combined with his strong pro-abortion stance make it highly questionable that Udall would vote to confirm similar nominees in the Senate.

TAXES - Does the candidate generally support lower taxes?

Bob Schaffer - Yes - Schaffer supported the 2001 tax cuts, supported eliminating the death tax, and supported a measure to make it harder for Congress to raise taxes. He was named a “Taxpayer’s Friend” by the National Taxpayers Union.

Mark Udall - No - Udall opposed the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, opposed eliminating the death tax, and opposed a measure to make it harder for Congress to raise taxes. Udall’s Congressional voting record earned him and “F” from the National Taxpayers Union.

GAS PRICES - Will the candidate protect family budgets by allowing safe off-shore drilling and responsible development of oil shale in western Colorado?

Bob Schaffer - Yes - Schaffer supports reducing foreign dependence on oil–and lowering prices at the pump–by allowing environmentally safe off-shore drilling. He also supports allowing the vast oil-shale resources in western Colorado to be responsibly accessed.

Mark Udall - No - Udall has been a Congressional leader in opposing the development of oil resources. In 2007, Udall sponsored a successful amendment to block the development of oil-shale resources. He has voted against off-shore drilling 15 times since 2001.
