La Azul y Oro to face Melbourne Victory in upcoming tour to the region in July

SINGAPORE, 25 May 2010 – MP & Silva, a leading international sports media agency, has inked an agreement with the Argentinean giants, Club Atlético Boca Juniors, to bring the club on tour to Australasia in July 2010.

As part of the tour itinerary, MP & Silva has arranged for La Azul y Oro (Boca Juniors’ nickname - and refers to the team colours of Blue and Gold) to take on A-League Championship runners-up, Melbourne Victory Football Club (MVFC), at Etihad Stadium, in Melbourne on 16 July.

“Boca Juniors is not just a football club, but an international sporting institution that has launched the careers of some of the world’s best players, including the illustrious likes of Carlos Tévez, Fernando Gago, current Boca star, Juan Román Riquelme, and Argentinean legend, Diego Maradona, so we are absolutely thrilled that we will be hosting Boca Juniors,” said Geoff Miles, CEO, Melbourne Victory Football Club. “The match promises to be a real spectacle for the fans, and we are confident that a strong Melbourne crowd will attend this feature match.”

“MP & Silva has proven to be a strong ambassador and promoter of football, and has established an enviable track-record organising football tours in Asia-Pacific, so we are pleased to partner with them to help us engage with our fans from the region,” said Juan Cobian, Football Director, International Relations, Club Atlético Boca Juniors. “Melbourne Victory is one of the region’s top football teams, so we are looking forward to meet and interact with football fans so far from Argentina.”

“Boca Juniors is a undoubtedly one of the world’s premier football clubs, so needless to say we are very excited to bring a team of Boca’s stature to play matches in Australasia for the first time in their illustrious 105 year history,” said Andrea Radrizzani, Group CEO, MP & Silva. “Following our earlier successful tour with Juventus two years ago, we are also pleased to bring Boca Juniors to Melbourne and the region, which will help to further consolidate and generate renewed interest in football in both Australia and New Zealand.”

The Boca Juniors Australasia Tour 2010 also marks the second partnership between MP & Silva and Melbourne Victory after the two entities collaborated successfully on the Melbourne leg of the Juventus Asia-Pacific Tour in 2008.  The Boca Juniors Australasia Tour to Melbourne cements the strong relationship between MP & Silva and the Melbourne-based club, and is part of a three-year agreement to raise the international profile of football in Victoria and Australia.

MP & Silva is also locked in multiple-party discussions with sponsors, companies and partners on various aspects of the Tour, and will announce a detailed itinerary and details on ticketing at a later date.
