The American downhill skier skidded out early on the slalom course, missing a gate less than 10 seconds into his opening run.
Also out is American Ted Ligety, a former Olympic champion who had a frustrating two weeks in Vancouver. Both were plagued by a choppy course that seemed to wreak havoc with skiers' edges, sending many astray.
Miller leaves the Olympics with an a record-breaking three Alpine medals. He won the gold in super combined, the silver in Super G, and the bronze in downhill.
