Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 will take place in Mumbai from March 1st to March 6th, 2012.

At a recent press conference which was held in Mumbai, Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) had announced the participating designers and the sponsors for Summer/Resort 2012. This time it assures quite a few new ideas to showcase designs from around the world, exchange of thoughts, a networking support and a platform where creative shape of expression is celebrated. The event’s focal point will be an epic to the Indian weaves and crafts by India’s recognized and up-and-coming designers.

Director-Fashion IMG Reliance, Anjana Sharma, stated that as a mark of respect to Indian textiles, LFW will be contributing a day to Indian Craftsmanship and Textiles. All the designers who will be taking part on this day will showcase Indian weaves and crafts, added Anjana.

Krishna Mehta, a stem devotee of Indian arts and crafts will curate the day. The occasion will witness the industry’s experienced personalities taking part in guest lectures, board conferences and workshops. LFW’s venture is to combine the finest designers who work in the company of the original fabrics and fabricate a compilation bringing the supremacy of Indian textiles to the forefront.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee who is well-known for using yards of hand-woven textiles in his designs, will as well showcase his exceptional collection, going with the subject matter. The designer transformed fashion and brought awareness to hand-woven Indian craft and textiles from the rural India, after his sarees on Vidya Balan from ‘The Dirty Picture’ caught an immediate fondness everywhere.

Well-known Designer Rohit Bal has been declared as the Grand Finale designer for this year. He comes back as the finale designer after 12 years. The celebrated designer will be taking the Lakme Absolute series by Lakme.

Lakme Fashion Week will as well witness the iconic worldwide Designer Bibhu Mohapatra showcasing an extravaganza on the LFW Runway.

The online channel, LFW TV, which makes the live streams for the designer shows and presents behind the scene goings-on from Lakme Fashion Week across the world, will witness the super model Nina Manuel as the host for this season. She will offer the viewers an exclusive content from LFW shows, behind the scenes activities, fashion reports, special interviews, parties, and much more from India’s first fashion trade platform. This online streaming channel will take a step further and will permit the buyers, sponsors and fashion buffs, around the globe to get an immediate entrance to the act.
