Welcome?
Once I made it to the Information desk (yes, the line up was for the Info desk), the lady told me that I needed to renew my other piece of ID first, then come back for my passport.
- So I can do it here, right?
- No, you have to go to another office, located at... (30 mins away)
- And then come back and line up again??
- Yup!

- Yup!
And away I went. I had no change, so I decided to walk some 15 blocks and take the subway. It wasn´t working, all the subway workers were on strike (and fighting against some other union that had shown up there who knows why). I kept walking and walking and once I finally found some change, I took a cab and went to that office.
It was closed. It was 13:20 and the office only opened from 8:00 to 13:00. Frustrated, I took yet another cab to the Brazilian Consulate, but they had also closed at 13:00, so I went back to the hotel. I had had enough already.
Got up very early today, and I was at that same office by 8:10. To my surprise, there was no line. I would soon find out why.
- Hello, I´m here to renew my DNI; I´m here for just a week and...
- We don´t do DNIs anymore
- WHAT??!!
- Yeah, the President announced that there are new DNIs coming in 15 days, so we stopped making the old ones as of today.
- Wait, you mean you were still making them yesterday?
- Yup

I almost tore the place apart, but I knew there was nothing I could do. So, no DNI, no Passport. What to do?
Went to the Brazilian Consulate again, and asked about a visa for my Canadian passport. It will be ready for me to pick up on Tuesday.
I want to go home already.
- Y luego volver y hacer fila otra vez??

- Y luego volver y hacer fila otra vez??
- Claro!
- A partir d...

No DNI, no pasaporte.
