A community portal about Boxing with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Boxing, also called pugilism, prizefighting or the sweet science, is a sport and martial art in which two participants of similar weight fight each other with their fists in a series of one to three-minute intervals called "rounds". In both Olympic and professional divisions, the combatants avoid their opponent's punches while trying to land punches of their own. Points are awarded for clean, solid blows to the legal area on the front of the opponent's body above the waistline, with hits to the head and torso being especially valuable. The fighter with the most points after the scheduled number of rounds is declared the winner. Victory may also be achieved if the opponent is knocked down and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten or if the opponent is deemed too injured to continue. For record-keeping purposes, a TKO is usually counted as a knockout when calculating the total knockouts.

Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De La Hoya: Get Ready for Saturday, December 6th

Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya will go toe to toe on Saturday, December 6th at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Golden Boy vs the Best Pound for Pound boxer in the world sets up to be an instant classic. Both boxers will fight in the welterweight division at 147 lbs.

De La Hoya (39-5-0, 30 KO's) is a 1992 Olympic gold medalist and winner of 10 world titles in 6 weight divisions. He has vowed that Pacquiao could be his final fight so he can concentrate on current and future business ventures. Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35 KO's) is currently the most dangerous fighter in the business today. His speed and quickness may give De La Hoya fits as he did with David Diaz. At this point in their careers, I would take Pacman because of his quickness and relentless punching style. De La Hoya is in the latter part of his great career. If Oscar wanted a great fight for a final swan song, he sure asked for one alright. I can't wait!
