A community portal about Boxing with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Boxing, also called pugilism, prizefighting or the sweet science, is a sport and martial art in which two participants of similar weight fight each other with their fists in a series of one to three-minute intervals called "rounds". In both Olympic and professional divisions, the combatants avoid their opponent's punches while trying to land punches of their own. Points are awarded for clean, solid blows to the legal area on the front of the opponent's body above the waistline, with hits to the head and torso being especially valuable. The fighter with the most points after the scheduled number of rounds is declared the winner. Victory may also be achieved if the opponent is knocked down and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten or if the opponent is deemed too injured to continue. For record-keeping purposes, a TKO is usually counted as a knockout when calculating the total knockouts.
After nearly two decades of bitter squabbling, Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins still can't share the same table. Instead, the former champions appeared behind separate podiums Tuesday with placards that had only their own names and likenesses. The stage inside the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square was set up to resemble a debate, with each of the 40-something fighters given time to explain why they believe they'll win their long-awaited April rematch. "Roy Jones ain't nothing to do with... Read Full Story

After 30 minutes of casual one-on-one interviews and picture taking, Abraham and his team (totaling six) wearily... Read Full Story

Saying “it’s about time” that the mainstream American media finally covers Manny Pacquiao would be an understatement. However, this coverage reflects how phenomenal Manny Pacquiao has become. Edwin Valero of Venezuela retained his WBC lightweight belt by stopping Mexico's Antonio DeMarco on Saturday night. DeMarco sat in his corner and declined to come out for the 10th round of their title fight. The Mexican was well behind on points and, though he had no obvious injuries, officials said he retired on the advice of his handlers. When the fight ended, Valero was eight points up on the scorecards of all three judges. Valero improved to 27-0, with none of his bouts going the... Read Full Story
Manny Pacquiao recently failed to negotiate a fight against the former Pound 4 Pound king Floyd Mayweather because of the random blood testing that Mayweather camp wanted both fighters to take. Pacquiao was keen to accept the said test but should not be 12 days before the fight because it might weaken him, and Mayweather’s Camp didn’t accept those excuses, thus it paves way to Joshua Clottey. Manny Pacquiao, the Fighter of the Year 2009, the Decade Fighter and the winner of the world... Read Full Story
The 40-0-0 perfect record of Floyd Mayweather Jr is certainly formidable and would suggest that he is perhaps an unbeatable force. He has won world titles at 5 different weights and has never really looked in big trouble in a fight. But the question is, can anybody beat him and if so, what type of fighter?
There is a real possibility that he will retire, properly, with his 0 still intact and that for him is very important. Yet, after announcing that he will be fighting Shane Mosley on May... Read Full Story
Well, fight fans, the fight of this decade is apparently going to happen. It’s not that often that two of the three greatest fighters on the planet have the opportunity to meet in the ring. Or that the three greatest fighters are all boxing in the very same weight division. Of course, I am referring to Sugar Shane Mosley, Floyd Money Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio.
I, for one, was really looking forward to seeing Manny and Floyd get it on; now it’s Shane and Floyd in what promises to be one... Read Full Story
Comparing negotiations for what could possibly become the biggest boxing event in 21st century, much anticipated showdown between pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao and self proclaimed king Floyd Mayweather Jr. to playing high stakes poker is not too far off the mark. Just when everything seemed to have been in place for turning over the cards, Mayweather raised (asking to change the rules with unreasonable demands for Olympic style blood tests). Just like in poker, this move was designed... Read Full Story
