A community portal about Boxing with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Boxing, also called pugilism, prizefighting or the sweet science, is a sport and martial art in which two participants of similar weight fight each other with their fists in a series of one to three-minute intervals called "rounds". In both Olympic and professional divisions, the combatants avoid their opponent's punches while trying to land punches of their own. Points are awarded for clean, solid blows to the legal area on the front of the opponent's body above the waistline, with hits to the head and torso being especially valuable. The fighter with the most points after the scheduled number of rounds is declared the winner. Victory may also be achieved if the opponent is knocked down and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten or if the opponent is deemed too injured to continue. For record-keeping purposes, a TKO is usually counted as a knockout when calculating the total knockouts.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The World Boxing Organization welterweight title bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao next March will not go ahead because of Mayweather's demands for Olympic-style dope testing procedures, Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said on Wednesday. Arum said using blood tests for the highly anticipated fight on March 13 was unprecedented for professional fights in Las Vegas. "As far as I'm concerned, the fight is off." he told Reuters in a telephone interview. "We don... Read Full Story

Pacquaio filed a lawsuit against the Mayweather camp. Bob Arum also called the fight off. All of the sudden Mayweather camp backs off the blood testing. Could all of this be something to do with all of this reasons above?
They certainly showed that they don't want the fight to be canceled. Well I certainly don't want that to happen and I think you don't want that also. Both camp won't budge in, no matter how you look at it. The loser in the end will... Read Full Story
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AFP) -- Promoters for Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather continued talks Saturday in hopes of reviving a mega-fight that has been scuttled by disagreements over unprecedented blood tests. But no progress was made in securing a deal to stage the welterweight showdown, what could be the richest fight in boxing history March 13 at Las Vegas even with both sides budging off hard-line positions, ESPN reported. Mayweather wanted US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) protocols... Read Full Story
By Scott Gilfoid: I don’t know about you but I’m completely bored with all this back and forth crying about blood tests for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight. They need just follow the rules that they usually have for Nevada fights and stick with testing urine. Either that, or go with the three blood tests that Pacquiao already agreed with – one in January, and the another 30 days before the bout, and the final one after the fight.
That’s enough. If either fighter is using... Read Full Story

Edwin Valero stopped veteran Hector Velazquez after six rounds Saturday night to keep his WBC lightweight title in a town on Venezuela's Caribbean coast. The 28-year-old Valero (26-0, 26 KOs) was bleeding from an eyebrow and his nose after a pair of accidental head-butts early in the fight. But the feisty Venezuelan kept attacking, giving Velazquez (51-14-2) his third loss in four fights. It was Valero's first defense since winning the belt in April with a second-round knockout of Antonio... Read Full Story

The first mega fight of 2010 is knocking at our door. The Mosley vs. Berto fight is scheduled to throw two of the best welterweights in the world against each other on 30 January 2010 for a unification world welterweight championship.
For Sugar Shane Mosley, this might just be another run-of-the-mill opportunity to show the world that despite his age (38 years old), he is still just as sweet as he ever was in the ring, especially against a 26 year old.
For Andre Berto, this is the... Read Full Story
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AFP) -- Manny Pacquiao is ready to fight Floyd Mayweather after all, but the venue looks to be a court room rather than a boxing ring thanks to Pacquiao's Christmas gift to Mayweater - a lawsuit. In a statement from the Phillipines that came early on Christmas morning in America, Pacquiao issued his first comments on the subject of his proposed March 13 fight with Mayweather being wiped out over blood test issues. "Enough is enough," Pacquiao said. "I have tried to just... Read Full Story
