Todd Helton homered into the smoky sky and drove in four runs as the Colorado Rockies snapped a five-game losing streak with an 8-3 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday night. Barry Zito carried a shutout into the ninth inning, Pablo Sandoval hit a home run and the San Francisco Giants got within a game of the Colorado Rockies for the NL wild card by beating them 5-3 Saturday night. Randy Winn, Juan Uribe, Nate Schierholtz and Eli Whiteside also drove in runs for the Giants, who won for the fourth time in five games. Colorado Rockies outfielder Brad Hawpe was taken to a hospital with a possible concussion after he was hit in the neck by San Diego catcher Nick Hundley's throw to second in the sixth inning Monday night. Hawpe stayed on the ground as Rockies trainers rushed out to attend to him. He was then rolled over, had a brace put around his neck and helped onto a cart, where he sat upright as he left the field, a medical staffer holding his neck. Brad Hawpe and the Colorado Rockies agreed to a $17.425 million deal on Tuesday, betting on at least three more seasons together with a club option for 2011. The 28-year-old right-fielder hit .291 last season with 29 longballs and 116 RBIs. Some of his better splits included batting .377 RISP with two outs and going 9-for-20 with the bags full. And Hawpe is thrilled.
